DIY: Kimono - How to make it

Today I have another DIY-tutorial for you - not the promised one, but well, it's still a project.

More than two months ago I showed you this outfit with my self made kimono. Now - finally - after destroying the sewing machine twice, I've finished my second one and now I will show you, how I've made it.

I wouldn't wear my first kimono outside my house, because I think it looks a bit too like pajamas. But this one is different, I think I'll wear it anywhere! ;)

Heute gibt es wieder mal ein DIY-Projekt - zwar nicht das Versprochene, aber immerhin.

Schon mehr als zwei Monate ist es her, dass ich euch dieses Outfit mit meinem selbstgemachten Kimono gezeigt habe. Jetzt - endlich - nachdem ich die Nähmaschine gleich zweimal zerstört habe, hab ich auch meinen Zweiten fertig bekommen und zeige euch, wie man einen schnell und einfach herstellen kann. 

Im Gegensatz zu meinem ersten Kimono würde ich diesen auch außerhalb meines Hauses tragen - das Muster ist weniger schlafzimmermäßig, wie ich finde.

What you need:

* 1 1/2 - 2 metre Fabric (the perfect would be flowing, but mine on the pictures is also a bit stiff)

* Sewing machine (I had an Overlock - so it was much easier)

* Chalk, Pins, Scissors

* 1 1/2 - 2 Meter Stoff (der perfekte wäre fließend, aber den, den ich für den auf den Bildern verwendet habe, war auch recht steif)

* Nähmaschine (ich hab eine Overlock verwendet - damit war es natürlich noch viel einfacher)

* Kreide, Stecknadeln, Schere

How to make it:

1. Cut a rectangle out of your fabric, your shoulder length plus 30 cm wide and as long, as you want the kimono to be long. This is the back part. Leave a neckline.

1. Aus dem Stoff ein Rechteck ausschneiden, das die Schulterbreite plus 30 cm breit, und so lange ist, wie der Kimono lang sein sollte. Das ist der Rückenteil. Einen Halsausschnitt lassen.

2. Cut out two more rectangles, as long as the first, but only as wide as one shoulder plus 15 cm. (So as wide as one side of your fist rectangle width without neckline.)

2. Zwei weitere Rechtecke ausschneiden, gleich lang wie das erste, aber nur so breit, wie eine Schulter plus 15 cm. (Also so breit, wie eine Seite der ersten Viereckbreite, nur ohne Halsausschnitt.)

3. Sew the two little rectangles left and right on your bigger rectangle. Leave a hole for the sleeves.

3. Die beiden kleineren Vierecke links und rechts an das große nähen. Ein Loch für die Ärmel lassen.

4. Measure the scale of the holes for the sleeves and cut two other rectangles out of the fabric. They should be as wide as the scale of the holes. These are your sleeves.

4. Den Umfang der Armlöcher abmessen und zwei Recktecke aus dem Stoff schneiden, die so breit wie der Armlochumfang sind. Dies sind die Ärmel.

5. Sew the sleeves in the holes.

5. Die Ärmel in die Armlöcher nähen.

6. Serge all edges.

6. Alle Kanten versäubern.

7. In the end, take a very long and thin rectangle out of the fabric and take it as a belt. You've finished!

7. Zum Schluss ein langes und dünnes Rechteck aus dem Stoff schneiden und als Gürtel verwenden. Fertig!
